Romeo's Surgery Fund

Many of you are aware of my involvement with the ISPMB wild Mustang horse rescue crisis in South Dakota. These horses were at risk for starvation, and ultimately were very close to being sent to the slaughterhouse. One of these young “yearling” horses I adopted has been diagnosed with a medical condition called Cryptorchidism. This is a bit personal for Romeo, but I will explain: Cryptorchidism is a condition in male horses in which one or both testicles do not descend normally into the scrotum. Although, this isn’t a serious condition now, if left untreated it can lead to tumor formation, and ultimately testicular cancer. Also, the only way to effectively geld a Cryptorchid horse is to perform the necessary surgery. Therefore, the sooner Romeo undergoes surgery to correct this condition the better chance for his health, and a long beautiful life.

I am asking for your generous donation to help raise money for Romeo’s necessary surgery, transportation to the medical facility and back, postoperative care, medications and other necessary medical supplies. The estimated cost is $2,200.00 Any donation will help and be extremely appreciated. Romeo and I thank you so much!

Additional Information about Romeo:It is important to geld/castrate male horses prior to the time they show stallion behavior. Those of you who are unaware of horse or stallion behavior, it is not ideal to keep a male horse uncastrated/ungelded unless you are involved in breeding of that stallion. An ungelded stallion is typically aggressive, difficult to manage, and train, especially around mares.
