Romeo Kitty Kisses

Dear reader,
My name is Kristen, and I am the proud owner of a ten-year-old, male cat named Romeo who has been saving my life since the day I adopted him! Every day, he wakes me up with kisses and purrs and follows me to sit and guard me wherever I am. I have worked as an elementary school teacher, child caregiver, and server, while he has been mine, and in spite of major hours spent dedicated to these jobs, I have severely struggled financially to maintain consistent shelter, food, and healthcare for the both of us. I have been physically, emotionally, verbally, and financially abused throughout my entire life but caring for animals was always a form of therapy for me. Nicknamed "kitten" at an early-age, I have especially loved cats and always wished to someday own one just like Romeo. He is the most loving, playful, and easy-going cat I have ever had. He lets me dress him in bow-ties, dance with him, and will lay on the bathroom floor while I shower so he can keep guard over me. Truly- He is my angel.
Recently, I realized that Romeo may be suffering from feline stomatitis: a disease caused by periodontal disease, which can be fatal to animals- if not treated. Due to Covid-19 measures, there has been a major decrease in the availability of my most recent employment as a substitute teacher and I have basically run out of all the money I had, trying to find another job, affordable housing, and pay my bills while keeping us fed. Unfortunately, my father passed away last year and I have no other means of financial support for paying for medical visits or the procedures necessary for Romeo to heal. He began compulsively licking his abdomen-area about a year ago but I thought this might have been a symptom of extreme anxiety caused by the extended periods of time I was at work or the frequent instances of abuse he saw me suffer, over the years. In spite of my attempts to provide him dental-care, have him assessed by veterinarians, and attempts to dress him in shirts which may hinder his over-grazing; His teeth are now bleeding, quite profusely, and there are mini-sores around his nearly, bald belly. I was devastated to learn that his condition shows he is likely to be experiencing severe pain from excessive inflammation in his mouth and that a disproportionate response by his immune system to the plaque bacteria could progress to an auto-immune reaction throughout his body which attacks dental-tissue and bodily-organs.
In most cases, Veterinarians will extract all of the premolars and molars, leaving the incisors and canines, to try to rid a feline's mouth of this disease. Extractions commonly range from $300-$1300 at clinics, depending on the number of teeth removed or antibiotics which may need to be additionally administered, after surgery.
Anyone who has met Romeo is aware of how much Romeo's health and well-being are detrimental to my own. It is heartbreaking to watch him suffer such pain. In the meantime, I am going to make every effort possible to find a way to cover the cost of treatment and sincerely appreciate any of your support whatsoever. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
Love,
MoMo & Kitten
