Karen Carter and Wrightsville Beach Landscaping, Inc are organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Romualdo Lopez.
Our hearts and prayers go out to our good friend and co-worker Romauldo Lopez. Romauldo is a kind-hearted, dedicated and humble person. He has a smile so bright and welcoming that you can feel the love that he carries for all that know him. He has worked tirelessly to support and care for those around him. Romauldo is a hard working and dedicated family man that helps to support his son and special needs brother back in Mexico, as well as his girlfriend Juanita’s 8 and 12-year-old nephews, as if they were his own. In addition, Romauldo volunteers on a regular basis in his community by doing outreach work through his church, The Basilica Shrine of Saint Mary’s in downtown Wilmington. He has done so with an open heart and without any expectation of recognition or reward for his efforts.
Now it is time that we come together and give back to a man that has given so much to others. Returning from another hard day of work on Tuesday July 7 2020, Romauldo suffered a severe stroke in his sleep, which left him paralyzed on the left side of his body. He has no memory of what happened.
After being rushed to the hospital and admitted into the ICU, it was discovered that Romauldo had fluid building up on his brain. He underwent surgery 3 days after being admitted to the ICU to relieve the pressure. Unfortunately, Romauldo is still in the ICU one week later as doctors continue to monitor his blood pressure and treat the fluid buildup on his brain. Furthermore, medical staff have been using physical therapy to help with his paralysis. While doctors address Romauldo’s physical needs, his long-time girlfriend Juanita has not left his bed side in an effort to minimize his confusion and anxiety.
Contributing to this fundraiser will go a long way in helping Romauldo and his family handle the stress of accruing medical cost and day-to-day bills as neither he nor Juanita have been able to work since his stroke. As Romauldo’s condition remains uncertain, it is important that he and his family have the resources to help cope with what lies ahead so that they are able to focus on his recovery with as little added stress as possible.
Romauldo would not hesitate to help any one of us in need. During these tough and uncertain days ahead please keep Romauldo and his family in your prayers. Please help now in any way you can. Thank you in advance for your prayers and monetary contribution.
