Romar's Medical and Recovery Fund
Donation protected
On May 24th, 2022, my nephew Romar Viray was in a horrible accident, leaving him with a broken femur and serious brain hemorrhaging. Romar was heading home from school in Bacolod City, Philippines, when a truck crashed against some trees on the street, dislodging the lumber and other materials it was carrying, which fell onto Romar, causing his life-threatening injuries.
Romar was rushed to the hospital, but medical care is extremely expensive in the Philippines. The surgeries he requires will cost more than $5000, not including additional costs of medicine, monitoring and rehabilitation. The funds that we raise here will be sent to Romar's family in the Philippines to cover the costs of his medical care and recovery.
Romar (23) is a bright light in our family - young, gregarious, smart and with a promising future ahead of him. He is very loving of his family, who are now travelling many hours across the Philippines to be with him in hospital. He is studying culinary arts, and had planned to come to Canada to start the next chapter of his life alongside his family here. We want to make sure that Romar can get the best medical treatment and support possible so that he can make a full recovery and continue to move towards the bright future that awaits him.
As we mentioned above, all proceeds (minus any administrative costs on the GoFundMe site) will go directly to Romar's
family so they can cover his medical bills and associated costs. Please donate whatever you can; even the smallest contributions will make a huge impact for Romar and his family.
Thank you so much for your kindness, compassion and support.
