Roman’s Rennovations

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Stephanie, and I am the older sister of Roman O’Sullivan. I am writing on behalf of him and my family. On July 10 th, 2022, Roman was in a life altering car accident. The accident put my brother in critical condition that required immediate surgery. The doctor gave us devastating news that he had damaged his spinal cord (incomplete C5 Spinal cord injury), making Roman quadriplegic. Roman’s doctors stated his chances of walking are only about 5% but that is not zero and we will work with him on his difficult road to recovery. Roman had just graduated from Wilkes Central High School the month prior. He planned to attend a community college starting in August for a welding program. Those of you who know Roman know that he is a strong and athletic young man. Those of you who don’t, well let me tell you a bit about him. He is loves to eat food and lots of it without gaining a single pound. Most say he is bottomless pit. Roman likes to play video games and to go hang out with friends and do what teenagers do these days. He loves all kinds of sports but is particularly passionate about soccer. He is a sweet and gentle soul and would never think to hurt anyone. My family and I have been through a lot in our lifetime, but we always manage to pull through together. From the passing of our birth-father at a young age to losing our birth-mother while being in foster care. Don’t worry, we were blessed to have been placed into a great children’s home and we also found our second chance at happiness with our family who adopted us. God has looked out for us, and I know God will continue to be with us on Roman’s road to recovery. Roman’s long-term living environment will need accommodations when he comes home after what will likely be months of rehabilitation. He will also continue to need assistance with living expenses in the future. Unfortunately, the at-fault insurance is “under insured” meaning the policy carried only the minimum required liability and does not cover any medical expenses nor will it cover Roman’s long-term living expenses. My family and I are asking for any donations that you can give that would go towards making our home ADA compliant. This would be greatly appreciated and such a huge blessing to Roman and our family. We ask that you keep Roman in your thoughts and prayers as he fights to recover and works to gain some independence back.

Update:
Roman is now at home where he is learning the “new normal”. He is attending physical therapy as often as possible. The next goal, is to build up enough strength in his wrists to allow him to use a manual wheelchair. He is constantly working on improving his functions.
Our next step, is to build an ADA bathroom for Roman. This entails, a roll-in shower, the piping for the shower, an ADA sink, and a toilet. This ADA bathroom would help Roman regain some independence and make home more comfortable. Please consider donating to help Roman with this renovation.
We would like to thank everyone that has helped our family during this difficult time. We have had an overwhelming amount of support along the way. We ask that you keep Roman in your thoughts and prayers while he continues his recovery.
