My name is Romaine Robinson, and I am the mother of Romaine Maker, a significant person in my life. On October 30, 2022, my daughter went to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to attend a festival with her family. While on her venture at the park, she fell while attempting to stand up from a wagon hayride. Romaine fell five feet backward, landing on her neck and back. She instantly felt excruciating pain in her neck and was paralyzed from her neck to her feet. During this traumatic experience, she was alert and got much help and encouragement from her family. 911 was called, and she was taken to the hospital where she was treated and hospitalized at Lancaster General Hospital in ICU (intensive care unit) for seven days. During her time there, she was evaluated and found to have disconnected the top of her spine. She was then immediately scheduled for surgery.
Romaine is currently back home in Baltimore, Maryland and being treated at Kernan Rehabilitation Orthopedic UM Institute by a talented and caring medical team.
I was inspired to start this fundraiser because Romaine is a self-employed barber and a single mom of a nine-year-old son. While she is expected to recover fully, her nerve damage could keep her from regaining her full mobility for nearly one year. She will need much encouragement and help on her long road to recovery. Please share her story and donate whatever you can. We greatly appreciate your support!
All proceeds will go directly to Romaine Maker.
