Donation protected
I make my living by my hands and by selling the products of my hands. It is a tenuous living but I’m reasonably happy with it. On Sunday morning, June 17, I was returning from a medieval sales event outside of Kansas City and as I was driving down I-70 heading for the Indiana border one of my rear tires exploded. It was not a flat where you have moments of decreasing pressure to slow down and gain control, it just went boom and was gone. The truck spun three or four times (I wasn’t counting) and then hit the grass median and rolled some unknown number of times. They flew me out in a helicopter to a nearby hospital where I was given a cat scan and X-rays of my skull, my neck and my pelvis. As it turned out, I was fine.
That was an incredible piece of luck. I, at least, am in good shape. What was not so lucky was that I lost the truck that was essential to my making a living and I may or may not have lost all my stock and the tools, sales tent, and other items I had with me. If I had one I would put up a picture of the wreck at the time but I never really saw much of it (the view hanging upside down in the cab was enough though) and while lying on the backboard had no opportunity to even consider taking pictures. I will know more when I get to see the wreck but it hard to believe that everything will have made it through as well as I did. I will give more details when I know more but at this point I don’t even know where it went (no one told me anything, they just flew me away).
If I can get another vehicle and do some degree of stocking I can claw my way back from this setback, but right now, I have next month’s rent and that is all of my resources. Basically I can’t see how I can recover on my own so I am asking for help. I have always tried to help others as much as I could and now I’m on the other end of the stick. Please help me return to a state where I can make my way again. Needless to say I will be very grateful and will do everything I can to pass this help down the line in turn. I love you all and hope that kind words will be followed by kind actions.
