Hi everyone, we’re Stephanie and Carla, and today we’re reaching out on behalf of someone incredibly special to us our dear friend Tabetha Burley.
Tabetha has dreamed of driving since she was old enough to imagine herself behind the wheel. For most people, that dream becomes reality with a few lessons and a driver’s test. But for Tabetha, the journey is much more complex and far more expensive yet she has never stopped believing it was possible.
Tabetha was born two months early and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at just nine months old. She has spent her entire life navigating challenges that most of us never have to think about. But if there’s one thing everyone who knows her can agree on, it’s this: Tabetha never lets anything stop her. She is a wheelchair user, yes but she is also a real estate broker, an author, a digital marketer, and a hypnotherapist. She pours her time, energy, and heart into uplifting others, even when she is quietly facing her own battles.
Now, life has thrown her a difficult financial setback, and without help, the dream she has worked so hard for may slip out of reach.
Right now, Tabetha is undergoing specialized driving lessons in Stratford, ON through Interactive Therapy Rehab a mandatory step before she can even begin standard lessons. These sessions cost $130 for just 45 minutes, and with no set number of lessons required, the total cost can escalate quickly. After this, she will need to enroll in Young Drivers and eventually purchase an accessible vehicle equipped with hand controls and a system that allows her wheelchair to roll directly into the driver’s position.
For most people, getting a license costs just over $1,000 and a regular car.
For Tabetha, the cost of the vehicle and adaptations alone can reach $150,000.
There are very few programs that offer funding for this kind of accessibility equipment, and even those that exist like the March of Dimes receive thousands of applications and cannot assist everyone. Despite these obstacles, Tabetha has already invested $2,500 of her own money to take the first steps toward independence.
We are asking for your help so she can keep going.
Tabetha has spent her entire life putting others first. She helps people build businesses, make confident decisions, navigate technology, and even score the best concert tickets always with a warm smile, endless patience, and unwavering follow-through. She advocates for others fiercely, and now we are hoping our community can rally around her in the same way she has done for so many.
Your support whether through donating or sharing this campaign will help Tabetha move toward the independence she has dreamed of for decades. Every single contribution, no matter the size, brings her one step closer to driving her own vehicle, moving freely, and experiencing a level of independence most people take for granted.
If you cannot donate, please share. A share is free, and it could reach the person who can help change her life.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read Tabetha’s story. Your kindness and compassion mean more than you know.
