A little over 3 weeks ago my mom was dropping my sister to school when a car crashed into them.

My sister thank god is well but my mother took all the impact which resulted in a contusion in her lung and slipped verterbre disk in her neck which compressed her C5-C7 nerve and rendered her paralysed from chest to toes. She thankfully received her surgery to decompress the nerve.

The lung contusion+ nerve damage caused her lungs to accumulate mucus and liquids more than she could get rid of, resulting in a tracheostemy and CPAP support becoming necessary. Additionally, from the nerve damage her heart was not reaching higher than 55, with a resting heart rate of 35 which then required her to get a pacemaker.

All these surgeries saved her life and we are eternally grateful for an opportunity to help her recover.

My mom is a kind and silly soul who enjoys caring for people more than she cares about herself, she was active, no health issues and free. She loves to sew and was always busy with her hands being crafty, cooking or helping her children and friends.

We are hopeful that we can get her back to her independence and ability to enjoy life.

Not only are her surgeries and recovery costly, but her rehabilitation requires months of intense physiotherapy to increase her mobility and constant medical care for her trach support.

My brother, sister and I are asking for any assistance to give her the best effort possible towards her recovery. My mum’s sister Vera is helping us manage the Gofundme and use the funds to support her costs for rehabilitation in a foreign country. 

“Home is where your mom is” has never felt more real that now. She is our heart and home, and we want her to come home and live her life again.
