Rogers Family Homeless after Hurricane Fred flood

Hi, my name is Danese and I am setting up this fund for my sister Teresa and her family to help with expenses for loses suffered from Hurricane Fred flood damage to their home, The house was flooded for the first time since it was built by our grandfather 97 years ago, truly a once in a century flood. Their home is currently uninhabitable due to structural damage to the house and spring fed water system, as well as water damage to the contents of the first floor and resulting mold. They desperately need funds for temporary housing, replacing some household items and to start repairs if FEMA determines the house is salvageable. Unfortunately, it can take as long as 3 months for a major disaster determination by the federal government and months longer for FEMA funding to help uninsured flood victims make costly repairs. It has been so heartbreaking to see such damage to the house that 5 generations of our family have called home.

Teresa was living there with her son, daughter in law, and 2 beautiful grandchildren. She is disabled from emphysema and her husband has been in a nursing home for 2.5 years due to a major heart attack followed by a stroke. Her baby granddaughter has cystic fibrosis and requires around the clock care by her daughter in law. Aside from my sister's small social security check, her son is the sole breadwinner for the family. She has another son who has been serving in the military for the past 11 years, and lives out of state with his family. Social services has provided the flood victims with rooms for three weeks, I shudder to think what happens after that. They are trying to find a low income rental they can afford through Mountain Projects.

They feel very blessed to have survived the flood, and would be thankful for any financial assistance anyone can offer to help secure housing. Prayers for them and all the victims of this disastrous flood are appreciated.
