Update on Roger Wang: Roger is still in the Batavia, NY ICE Detention Center and has been there for over 180 days. He is now eligible to file a writ of habeas corpus at a Federal Court to request release. His attorney will be filing the habeas corpus file shortly and get him on the court calendar for a hearing. His legal expenses and his families' living expenses continue. The legal expenses are high, but Roger has confidence in his attorney. Roger Wang, a prominent Owego restaurateur and former owner of the Kam Fung Restaurant, was enroute to a scheduled appointment to finalize his green card application process and was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers when he arrived at that appointment. Roger is now in ICE custody and his detainment status is uncertain. He is hoping to be released pending further processing and will need to post a bail bond. The cost of that is unknown at this time. Roger has been in the US since 1992, a total of 33 years. Roger has been registered with ICE since 2012 and has met all of the requirements that ICE has requested. ICE's plan was that Roger would get a green card after twelve years of monitoring. He has been a resident of Owego and a business owner since 1996. Roger left Communist China to flee political persecution after the unrest around the time of the Tiananmen Square protests.
He is an active in the Owego Nazarene Church. He also volunteers and delivers meals to the homebound for Tioga Opportunities Inc. in Owego while running his restaurant 7 days a week. Many people know and love Roger because of his kind and loving heart
The purpose of this Go Fund Me campaign is to raise money for Mr. Roger's release from detainment, to help him pay for legal representation and to offset losses to his business due to his absence.

I know Roger from his restaurant "Kam Fung" which is very near me and which I've been a customer. The funds that we are raising will be going to Roger via Roger's wife Anna H. (Chun Hua) into their joint checking account. The money will be used to pay for bail to get paroled from the Batavia, NY ICE Detention Center, for attorney fees to help Roger finish the process of getting his green card, and help his family since he no longer has the restaurant.
