Roger Perkins medical bills and after care
Donation protected
Friends and family, we are asking for help during a very difficult time that we never imagined we would go through.
In June of 2022 Roger was admitted to Moses Cone Hospital with jaundice… After numerous tests and scans were ran the doctors diagnosed him with pancreatic cancer. Roger completed almost a year of chemotherapy in hopes to shrink the tumor, in which he would then be a candidate for the Whipple procedure. If anyone knows Roger, you would understand how positive and strong he was throughout the whole process. He continued to work regularly, other than the days he had treatments, and was upbeat even on the most difficult days. He pushed through to continue a normal life as much as possible so that our son wouldn’t question what it was he was going through.
Fortunately, he responded very well to the treatments, and on Jan 14th after completing a CT scan, we received the news that he was a candidate for the surgery. February 9th the surgeons at Duke were able to perform a procedure called the Whipple, to remove the tumor.
Rogers recovery has been much longer than anticipated. He remained at Duke Hospital for 28 days after the surgery. He has had many complications since being discharged home and had to be readmitted to the hospital multiple times. Thankfully, he is home now with his family and improving. Roger has a very long and tough road ahead of him and our family is asking for your help with medical costs and after care.
We really appreciate whatever it is that you can donate. This has been an extremely difficult year and we are just trying to get back to some sense of normalcy… Thank you all. ♥️
