Our Dad was diagnosed with aggressive small cell carcinoma in his lung last fall. It was caught early, due to yearly lung scans that our mom makes him get because cancer runs in his family. He wasn't a candidate for removal because by the time they were going to biopsy and remove that section, it had spread nearby lymph nodes. During this time, they also found a spot on his brain.
Through chemo and radiation treatments the cancer was targeted and successfully minimized from its original size. Over the past few months, he has been completing an experimental immunotherapy infusion trial that has been successful in reducing his cancer. We are so thankful for advancements in cancer treatment. He will have to continue these treatments until they no longer work. Unfortunately, through this process he has developed an abdominal aneurysm that has grown to nearly 6cm. He has been in the hospital all weekend and has had emergency surgery that was unsuccessful. He is being transported to Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh PA where they will attempt to repair the leak that is still near his aorta. We are not sure how long they will be in Pittsburgh for this procedure.
We are reaching out to ask for collective prayer as this is a scary time for all of us and especially for dad. If you know our parents, they mean the world to us and many others. They are quick to give and slow to ask for help. We ask that you pray with us that God will continue to have mercy and bring healing in Dad.
If you find that you are able to bless them this season to help with the mounting bills, travel expenses, and hotel costs (the hospital has no Patient Hospitality rooms) we would be so appreciative and it would be a huge encouragement to them.
With much love, Joe (Lenny), Lori, and Emily
