My name is Sherry, Roger is my husband. On May 26th our lives changed, it all happened so fast. Roger was on lunch break, his youngest daughter was getting her first car so dad went by to check it out. The hood was hard to raise so Roger gave it a push and heard a loud pop. I got a call “Sherry, I need to go to the doctor. I’ve dislocated my shoulder”. We went to the sports medicine doctor and they take X-rays. The doctor said, "Your arm is broken, but you also have a cyst or a tumor on the bone." So they moved Roger to another room to see a specialist. Soon the doctor walks in and says, "Mr. Goodwin, I’m pretty sure you have cancer and I think it’s coming from another source. I need you to go for a CT Scan and blood work tomorrow and a cancer doctor on Monday." It was confirmed stage 4 kidney cancer had moved to his bones. I remember both of us sitting on the floor and balling. The next week he was in the hospital and had surgery on his arm and removed the tumor. The next day, surgery on his leg. They had to put a rod in the bone to keep it from breaking. Roger, has had radiation, been hospitalized for 9 weeks, came home this past Wednesday, and started immunotherapy the next day. Roger, has no income coming in. All we have is my income and that's not even close to being enough. Plus, I’m working around his doctor appointments. He has filed for his disability and the lawyer said he will get it, but it will take at least 8 months before it starts. Between doctor bills and regular bills, all that we've saved is gone. It’s hard enough worrying about His health, but we also now have financial stress on us.
