Roger & Deanna Stein

Hello, for those of you who don’t know me, I’m Rachael Wilson (Stein). I’m the youngest of 3 of Roger & Deanna Stein. This adventure started just over 5 years ago, Thanksgiving weekend of 2017.
For those of you who don’t know, my mom, Deanna, was diagnosed with Lung cancer. She was initially given 3 months to live, but by Gods grace, she has been with us since! I can’t say it’s been the easiest thing any of us have ever been through, especially my mom. It most definitely was not easy watching it all happen in front of us.
It didn’t take long, but a lot of tough treatments, and her lung cancer was gone! Unfortunately, it only took about 6 months to find that a tumor has grown in her brain. At this time, it was still small enough to where they were just going to keep doing scans every few months to keep an eye on it.
Well, some time later, some radiation needed to be done. It was gone after some months, but they still needed to do routine scans to make sure everything was still clear from the lungs up.
It was only a few summers ago that we learned the dang thing came back!! She had an ablation done (essentially burning the tissue). Well, that seemed to do the trick!
Nope, never mind, a few months go by and it returned!! What an emotional roller coaster! Deanna wasn’t going to let this control her! She’s a strong woman to anyone who knows her! “So what are we going to do about it?” She says.
Well, this past September she had to have surgery. What an emotional time THAT was. Was she going to make it out? How were things going to be afterwards? So many questions only God could answer with time. Many ups and downs in between, lands us here. My mom is in hospice; a word we didn’t think we would have to hear for a long time.
What a surprise that was to us all. We didn’t think things were that bad, we all thought it was just part of the recovery! I mean, she had brain surgery not even 3 weeks prior!
For those of you who also don’t know, my dad, Roger, decided him and a partner were going to start their own business a while ago. Things were just starting to be really busy for them! Well, with my mom being in hospice care now, we had to think of all our options. How are we going to pay for her to be in a facility? If we can’t afford that, who’s going to be home with her and take care of her? Again, so many questions we didn’t think we needed the answer to for a while. She can’t do much of anything on her own. My siblings live out of state with being in the military. Well, I can’t afford to just quit my job and stay home…things seemed to be quite hard, I didn’t think things could get any harder. I could only imagine how my dad was feeling. All that stress and emotion all hitting at once?
Well, him being the AMAZING man he is, he sold shares of his business so he could stay home 24/7 and take care of her. It’s not an easy thing going from being a full time construction worker to being a full time care taker, so I give that man A LOT of grace and credit for everything he has done and continues to do for her and this family. He’s done such a great job, but as we all know, so much money only gets us so far. None of us knew nor do we know yet how long God wants to keep my mom down here to be with us.
With all that being said, with my dad not working/being able to (we don’t really have another option for care), he’s really in need of a little help getting by each month and possibly funeral costs in the future. Please donate if you’re feeling up to it. Every penny is SO SO SO appreciated! ❤️
