I am creating this for my brother-in-law, Roger Bumgarner. Roger was recently diagnosed with a Vestibular Schwannoma (https://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/vestibular-schwannoma-acoustic-neuroma-and-neurofibromatosis)  which is a benign brain tumor that is typically slow-growing, however, Roger's was not caught in its early stages and is considered to be quite large. He can choose to not have it removed, but at this time he is completely deaf in his right ear and the tumor will continue to grow, eventually pressing on his brain stem. 

After working with his doctors and discussing with his loved ones, Roger has opted to move forward with brain surgery for the removal.  The surgery will take place at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis and will be an all-day procedure. He will then spend 2 days in ICU and an additional 1-3 days recovering in the hospital. Once released, Roger will need to undergo extensive physical therapy relearning how to do everyday things such as walking. The overall recovery time is estimated to be at least 6 weeks, during which he will be out of work. 

Roger is the sole breadwinner for my sister, who was diagnosed with MS in 2000, and my teenaged niece.  He has limited health insurance and aside from the current living expenses such as mortgage, car, and insurance payments, there will be additional gas, parking, food, and hotel expenses during his treatment in Minneapolis. 

We know that the last year has been extremely difficult for most and completely understand if you are unable to help, but every cent counts and we appreciate any support you can give, no matter how big or small.  Although the total cost is unknown, our goal is to get Roger and his family through this without losing their home.
