Roger and Paula during this life struggle

Hi my name is Norman, I am trying to raise money to help my brother Roger and his wife Paula.

On feb 25, Roger was on his way to the Home Depot to pick up supply’s to fix his fence. After arriving at the Home Depot he experienced excruciating stomach pain which took him to the ER at HCA Ocala Florida hospital. They diagnosed him with an infected and inflamed gall bladder. After spending the night in the hospital they began preparing him for surgery. While getting ready for surgery his vitals crashed. His heart, lungs and kidneys began to fail. He had to be put on a ventilator and admitted to the icu. After a week in the Ocala hospital icu they were able to restore his kidney function, but were having trouble making progress with his lungs and heart. The smaller Ocala hospital didn’t have the equipment to properly treat him so they made the decision to move him to HCA Florida North Hospital in Gainesville fl, a much bigger hospital that is equipped to treat extremely sick patients. Since being in Gainesville the doctors have been able to restore most of his heart function. It is still not working at full capacity but it is working much better than it was. His lungs continue to be a mystery, the doctors are struggling to diagnose and treat an infection that has formed in his lungs. It has been almost a month now and he is still on the ventilator. Although he is making small improvements the doctors say he is still very sick and has weeks or possibily months left in the hospital. Roger does have insurance but we are still expecting there to be doctor bills associated with his stay. After being moved to Gainesville hospital Roger’s loving wife Paula has been splitting her time between spending as much time at the hospital next to her husbands side and taking care of their 7 rescue dogs. It is 40 miles between their house in ocala and the Gainesville hospital. After about 2 weeks of driving back and forth Paula’s car blew a head gasket and now she is without a car. She is currently renting a car, but in the long run that is not sustainable. We (Roger and Paula’s family) are putting together this go fund me page to try and help her get another car so she is able to get to the hospital and home again so she can spend as much time as she can with her husband.
