I am starting a Fund Raiser for a man I consider a brother. I have no siblings but could only imagine what life would be like growing up with him by my side. See, Roger is not like most people. He is deeply committed and loyal. He is someone who you can only meet once, need him to help you in the middle of the night, and he would be there with no questions asked. This is the kind of person the world needs to go round.
Last year Roger had a brave fight with throat cancer. He told no one and went through his treatments while still working to support his family. He never turned anyone away while going through this ordeal and continued to help everyone around him.
Roger has been experiencing bad pain on the side of his rib cage. He went to the doctors a few weeks ago and was told that it may be a pulled muscle. After the pain became increasingly worse, he went back to the doctors for further testing. It was revealed that Roger has bone cancer on the rib and on his hip. He took the diagnosis and then went back to work while the doctors immediately started planning his course of treatment.
Only several days ago, I posted pictures of my neighbors helping clear the snow from the homes of my other neighbors. Roger was one of these people out making sure his elderly neighbors would be able to get out of the house. Pain did not stop him when it came to helping others.
Roger has a beautiful family......His wife Eliete, son Michael and daughter Ashley. The toll it took on them last year was a lot but they got through it. Now they stand with their dad again. Eliete is a great mom who goes to work every day while helping the kids stay great students! Michael plays baseball for our Springfield high school team and Ashley is a competitive swimmer. They need to be able to care for their dad while he takes this on and focuses on beating cancer, like he has done before and will do again!
I am having this fundraiser because no one should have to worry about their bills being paid while they put their health first. Please, every bit helps. We anticipate him being out of work for some time.
I will continue to update everyone as we get news.
Please stay safe, stay healthy and thank you for reading this story.
