Let's Show Mr. Roosevelt We Care
As you have probably noticed, Mr. Roosevelt, one of the crossing guards at River Oaks Elementary has not been at work for several weeks. He has been ill and had hoped to be back in mid February. Unfortunately his condition is much more serious than he originally thought so he will not be able to return this year. I have spoken with Roosevelt on several occasions, and while he has not shared the exact diagnoses with me, I do know it is very serious. He is currently in Methodist Hospital and when I spoke with him today, he was very weak and he said he would not be returning home any time soon.
This is a difficult time for Roosevelt and his family. Dealing with a serious illness is hard enough, but not being able to work and having to deal with financial hardship only makes matters worse. While there is little we can do to help Roosevelt with his illness, we can help lighten his family's financial burden. Please help us show him that the ROE community cares. We hope to give him the proceeds in early March.
BTW, we are looking for a photo of Roosevelt, but in the meantime, we are using the Astros logo since he is a huge fan.
