In Memory of Rodney “Gumby” Meyer: Honoring a Legend
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and all who knew Gumby.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Gumby on July 17, 2025.
A true legend, Gumby lived a life full of grit, heart, and an untamed spirit that touched everyone he met. A biker, cowboy, submariner, and proud son of South Dakota, he embodied freedom and adventure in every story he shared and every mile he rode.
As The Sandlot reminds us, “Heroes get remembered, but legends never die.” Gumby’s legacy lives on in the rumble of a motorcycle, the laughter of shared memories, and the love he poured into his family and friends. He was a man who lived life to the fullest, always quick-witted and sharp, even in his final days. During a recent visit at the hospital in Rochester, where he was battling widespread cancer, Gumby remained in good spirits despite his pain and weakness. We reminisced about the good times—motorcycles, panheads, shovels, and evos, our dads, our kids, and the countless friends he made traveling the country. He spoke with pride about his children, who have grown into fine men, and expressed gratitude for the blessed life he lived surrounded by so many who loved him.
This GoFundMe is to honor Gumby’s memory and support his family during this difficult time. Funds will go toward medical expenses, memorial costs, and providing support for his loved ones as they navigate this loss. If you’re unable to contribute financially, please keep Gumby’s family in your thoughts and please, share your favorite stories of him—because his legend will never fade.
As we reflect on Gumby’s incredible life, let’s hold onto this quote that captures his spirit: “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” – Dr. Seuss. Let’s smile for the joy, laughter, and freedom Gumby brought to us all.
Thank you for your love, support, and generosity.
