Saving Rodgie
Donation protected
Late on March 4th, Rodgie was taken to a local veterinary ER by her foster mom. She had been vomiting throughout the day, but then had a seizure and lost control of her bowels in the evening.
Rodgie was kept overnight but is in a very fragile condition. Her blood pressure is extremely low and she has developed pneumonia in both lungs. She’s started on antibiotics and will be seeing another specialist on March 5th, but she is not stable enough to leave the ER.
Her quality of life is our top priority. The best option right now is to stabilize and monitor her while the doctors evaluate what is best for Rodgie. The cost to keep her stable at the ER can be up to $2,500 a day.
A video of her went viral at the end of February and we are asking her fans to assist us in the care of this very special pug. Any donations are greatly appreciated and all funds will go towards Rodgie’s care.

Rodgie is a 10-year-old pug who was surrendered to Pacific Pug Rescue at the start of 2016 with a history of medical problems, including seizures. Her small size, lolling tongue and bumbling walk endeared her to everyone she met, but these characteristics are likely the side effects of neurological conditions that she was born with. As she grew older, the side effects of her conditions became more pronounced.
She was seen by a neurological specialist who determined that her quality of life could be maintained through medication. Additionally, any surgical options would be very risky because she is a high risk anesthesia patient and surgery would not fix her, only possibly reduce some of her symptoms.
---
Rodgie is currently in the care of Pacific Pug Rescue in Portland Oregon; a 501c3 nonprofit organization incorporated in 2006 that exists to rescue, rehabilitate and place unwanted, abandoned, neglected and abused Pugs in permanent adoptive homes that have been carefully screened. Pacific Pug Rescue is an all-volunteer organization; we do not have a shelter facility and all rescued pugs live with volunteer foster families while they wait to be adopted.
Thank you for anything you can give.
