My name is Jennifer and my middle brother Rodger has been fearlessly fighting cancer for the past year and a half. When he was diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoma, he and his wife Jessica sold their house in Glenpool, OK, and downsized to a smaller home in Sapulpa. Rodger began planning for the future of his family to make sure Jessica, their 3 daughters, and grandkids would be okay. This is what he has always done.

He began chemotherapy, continued to work full-time while he fought off the side effects of chemo, including severe headaches, vision changes, stomach issues, constipation, urinary tract infections, and then ended up getting COVID-19.

His grandson Connor is an amazing soccer player, whom Rodger provided guidance, support, and ensured Connor had everything he needed to be successful as he continued to take him to his soccer practice, games, and travel teams. His family has always been his top priority and Connor's success was definitely a priority.

In March of this year, he was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer. He was given a choice to have surgery or to do radiation. He chose radiation because it would allow him to continue to work. During this new diagnosis of prostate cancer, he developed a severe chemo rash, which was exacerbated in the heat and sun of Oklahoma, and his job required him to work outdoors, but he was not going to be put in a position to not be able to work.

In June, his urologist decided to present his case to the Tumor Board in Tulsa, and they made a recommendation for him to start hormone therapy and radiation. Hormone therapy started in July and so did the hot flashes that go with it. Yet he continued to make sure he didn't miss work.

In September, he was diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his knee and will need to have surgery to stabilize his leg. October brought surgery to place a spacer in preparation for this radiation. His first treatment was this past Monday, and he will have a total of 44 treatments over the next 9 weeks. We're doing the countdown, and as of today, November 1st, he has 39 treatments to go.

This coming Tuesday, November 4th, he is scheduled to have his meniscal tear repaired and he plans to return to work the next day, because that's what he does. Unfortunately, he has no more vacation time to allow him the time to recover from his surgery, so he will go back to work as soon as he is humanly able to do that.

He is never one to ask for help or anything from anyone, which is why I'm telling this story about a brave, family-driven man, who has come to understand where he stands mentally, physically, and spiritually. He knows his life is in God's hands, but he will continue to do all that he can to provide and ensure his family has what they need.

Every dollar raised is more than he will have while he is out for his continued treatments, upcoming surgery recovery, and rehab. This will also allow him some peace of mind and allow him time to take care of himself. Please consider helping him help himself for a change.
