Rodger Windt: Windt Strong fund

Hi, my name is Tyler Windt. I am 16 years old, and my Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May 2015. It started as Stage 3, and he was involved in a clinical study at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Throughout the study, he was hitting all the marks he needed in order to stay on the study as a patient. Around Christmas 2015, we thought he had accomplished a Christmas miracle after he was done with his surgery to get rid of the tumor. We later found out in March 2016, he was diagnosed with the tumor metastisizing into his liver and it had become a terminal illness.
The statistics for pancreatic cancer are very frightening because the percentage rate for someone living 5 years after is at 6%. 71% of pancreatic cancer patients pass away within the first year of diagnosis. No further advancements have been made regarding pancreatic cancer treatment since 1989.
My Dad is and always has been a hard worker. His work ethic is outstanding, and he is just an all around good guy. His humor and smile can light up a room in an instant. He's always had a soft heart no matter for who or what it is. He is, without a doubt, my biggest mentor and role model. Even after he was diagnosed this past March, he still continued to work on the house because thats just what he loves to do. This past summer, he re-did the living room, the kitchen, the office, the basement, and the back deck. My Mom and I are very grateful for the things he has done for us.
He is now at the stage where hospice care is coming 2-3 times a week to check if he is ok. As the usual guy he is, he hates this because he feels as if he does not want any help because he can do everything on his own (he really can not do much anymore).
My goal for this page is to raise money so my Mom and I can finish the projects he hasn't finished or yet started. Financially, things are tight because he is now on unpaid leave, and my Mom only works a part time job. With this, my Mom has to decide each day whether she wants to spend time with my Dad, or go to work to make enough to buy groceries everyweek.
With your donation, we will put this money towards everyday expenses, and medical expenses. It will help support us as a family as well as be donated to advancements in research.
Thank you very much for your time and donation(s).
