My heart is broken in little pieces. This weekend, after years of struggling with sickle cell anemia and debilitating depression, my son Roderick took his own life. My grief is profound, but I know that he is no longer suffering. Roderick’s death was sudden and unexpected. I want to provide a funeral for my son which honors his life and highlights the struggles of people who are living with depression.
