On May 21, 2025, with family by his side, Rod Thomas closed his eyes for the last time. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship is being set up in his name and will be awarded to a graduating senior(s) at Genoa Kingston High School who are going to college and majoring in music. Rod was a music teacher and band director at GKHS for over 30 years, so the family will honor him and his legacy through this scholarship (or scholarships, depending on the amount donated).

(Through the generosity of many friends and family, we will be able to award scholarships to several GKHS students who will be majoring in music. The funds will be managed by Tricia Maxwell on behalf of the family.)
