Rod Evans Sporting Opportunities Fund
Donation protected
Dr. Rod Evans died on May 12, 2019. A self-declared "accidental" psychiatrist, most recently Rod was a passionate supporter and psychiatrist to Ontario's most disenfranchised youth - particularly those in or in contact with the justice system.
A mentor, coach and athlete in his own right, Rod was a huge believer in the value of sport and physical activity to a full life, good mental health and community membership.
In his honour, and with the goal to continue to provide some of the bridges that Dr. Evans provided, his family has created a fund to provide sporting opportunities to youth. We intend to use monies raised to provide everything from running shoes to registration fees, with a focus on at risk youth via schools, organizations and communities.
As with Rod's work in life, the fund will be managed as simply and barrier-free for youth and those supporting them as possible.
