Rocky's Medical Fund: Support Our Beloved Pet

Aloha everyone,

Itʻs not often that I ask for help in this way, however, today I am reaching out in hopes of rallying and raising funds for our beloved family dog, Rocky

9 years ago Rocky came into our lives as a little stray miracle from the valley of Kalihilihiolaumiha during a time when I was once a home visitor working with an Early Head Start program.

As a surprise stray who was nearly gifted on to another family, Rocky gained a place in all of our hearts and grew well into his name as he is a small but rock solid pup, both in physical vessel and steadfast in his unconditional love. But like all Rocks, they may chip over time with wear and tear, and Rocky is no different.

Two months ago, Rocky took a tumble down a flight of stairs and sprained his right ankle. Since then, he’s been compensating on his left leg, which now appears to have a possible torn tendon/issues concerning his knee. His condition has unfortunately worsened the past few days, now experiencing significant swelling in both legs, struggling to walk, and as of May 18, has lost appetite.

As most pet owners are aware, vet bills, depending on the severity of injury, is costly. We were able to get him as far as medications, an x-ray, and vet visitations but Rocky now is in need of urgent care. This will entail blood work, further diagnostics, and possibly surgery; estimated to be upward of $7,000. An expense we are unable to cover upfront in total. *Please see updates at end / below

Despite this, we believe in Rockyʻs ability to heal, and your donation means the world to us to help us restore our beloved family friend and give him a shot at a renewed life. At 9 years old, we truly believe he still has so much more love and years of life to live.

Update:

As of May 19th, We are working with the Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital and have been provided with a new prognosis, treatment plan, and an estimated quote of $4002.81. His prognosis may be Immune-Mediated Polyarthritis (an autoimmune disorder) attacking his joints. If this is the case, this changes our course of treatment and upfront costs:

Every little bit counts towards Rocky emergency fund to get him on track with recovery. At this time, we were able to provide pain medications as a temporary measure until we are able to proceed + commit to the full scope of care. Additionally, we are looking to purchase a specialized harness to assist him in walking with his hind legs. Thank you so much for your care and generosity.
