About me...
My name is Donovan Loew and I'm a senior at Hofstra University pursuing a degree in Film Studies and Production.
This March I will be shooting my senior thesis film entitled Rocky Raccoon. Not only will this be the culmination of my four years of film studies in college, but the film will also serve as my calling card as a professional filmmaker. Over the past two years, writing this script has been my passion project. Now that I’m ready to produce it, I must extend my hands to friends and family to ask for your generosity with the hardest part of this process, fundraising.
The Story...
The film centers around the main character Rocky, who after a near-death experience has an epiphany that he must marry an old flame. He shows up unannounced to her house to proclaim his love and propose marriage. Unfortunately, upon his arrival, he finds that she is with a new man, Dan. Over the course of the film, different circumstances bring the three characters together to a roller skating rink. There they air out their dirty laundry, all while a dance contest surrounds them.
Some people believe fate dictates their life, and others believe they have free will. Through this black comedy, Rocky discovers the answer isn't always so clear.
The Budget...
In order to produce this film I need to cover expenses totaling just over $5000.
The expenses over the four-day shoot include: paying actors, renting camera equipment and locations, feeding a twenty-person crew, paying for hair, makeup, costumes, and much more. I’m hoping that you can find it in your heart to support this project in any way you can.
Many great directors got their start by pouring everything they had into a short film they created while in college. If done properly and the right people see the film, it can be the start of a long career. This senior thesis film is my opportunity to get started. With your help, the completed film will be entered in festivals across the U.S.
