Hi, my name is Kyra, and I’m raising funds for my brother Rocky and his family as he bravely battles cancer and fights to prolong his life.

Those who know me already know how close my family is, and how much we mean to one another. What many may not know is that my brothers and I lost both our parents to devastating illnesses and are losses that have shaped our lives in ways words can hardly express.

By a cruel twist of fate, Rocky was not only there through our parents’ illnesses, but he was also the one by their side at the very end all the while showing strength, compassion, and love beyond measure. He did the same for our beloved grandfather, whom he was named after.

Rocky has always been the quiet, strong type; the one who carries everyone else’s burdens without ever uttering a complaint. He lives a simple, humble life devoted to his wife Philipa and their two young children, Liam (10) and Lauren (5), who are his entire world.

My heart breaks to see my brother now facing a similar battle to my parents at just 36 years old. He is unable to work, unable to play with his children, and is having to rely heavily on his wife, family, and friends as he fights to hold on to the life he loves so deeply.

Rocky has been diagnosed with Stage 3A colon cancer. He has already undergone surgery to remove a large mass, but he now urgently needs chemotherapy and further medical intervention. His recovery has been slower and more painful than expected, and recent tests revealed additional complications that require another surgery to repair damage to his bladder.

We’re hopeful that once he recovers from this next operation, he’ll be strong enough to begin a six-month course of chemotherapy.

Sadly, quality healthcare in Kenya comes at a great cost, far beyond what Rocky and his family can manage on their own. We’re asking for your support to help cover his medical expenses and give him the best possible chance to keep fighting.
