For those that don’t know BRIAN ROCK, here’s a little info to get you up to speed…
BRIAN attended Carbondale Area High School (‘95), and later Mansfield University. He served as a Probation Officer in both Pike and Lackawanna Counties. Currently, he is a City of Carbondale Police Officer, recently attaining the rank of Sergeant. He also serves as an Adjunct Instructor at the Lackawanna College Police Academy.
Outside of work, BRIAN is an avid outdoorsman & hunter. He enjoys country music – in particular, Kenny Chesney. His sense of humor fuels his infectious laughter, and he appreciates a good joke, even on him! After all this, he still manages to find time to give back as a volunteer with many local groups, including the multi-day festival in downtown Carbondale – “Pioneer Nights.”
For those who know BRIAN ROCK best… he’s the perfect example of a proud father, a dedicated husband, a loyal friend, and a great co-worker.
AND NOW… BRIAN AND HIS FAMILY NEED OUR HELP!!!
Approximately 15 years ago, BRIAN had open-heart surgery to fix a leaking valve. Unfortunately, the “warranty” of such a repair is only 15 Years… which brings us to 2019. For almost a year now, BRIAN struggled with cardiac symptoms that ultimately rendered him incapable of performing his duties within the Police Department. In early March, he was rushed to Geisinger-CMC in Scranton, and quickly flown to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia for emergency surgery. While at U-PENN, several other factors and conditions quickly caused his health to worsen, resulting in serious questions about his ability to survive another open-heart operation.
Thankfully, an intricate cardiac procedure was performed on March 19th – with near perfect results. The road to Full Recovery, however, appears to be Extremely Long for both BRIAN and his Family.
In addition to hefty medical bills, time spent in Philly and/or going back & forth, by family, is costly. On top of those expenses, BRIAN’s wife SHANNON also works for the City, and pay-less pay-days will be a reality – as they BOTH will be unable to return to work for the foreseeable future as BRIAN recovers.
