Rockette el perro Morton Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Dearly Beloved:

Many of you have had the good fortune to make the acquaintance of Rockette el perro Morton over the course of his twelve-year ramble. He has been a true and steady friend to us all and a fixture at Track 16 Gallery in Santa Monica and Culver City until 2016 and at Cornelius Projects in San Pedro up to the present. Three years ago, Rockette began showing signs of a health problem, and although we did our best to get to the bottom of it, no clear diagnosis was ever given. On August 9th, he took a severe turn for the worse, and by the morning of the 11th, he was gravely ill. With a very heavy heart I began making plans for Rockette’s peaceful passing. My friend and genius vet, Dr. Tony George, encouraged me to get an ultrasound for Rockette prior to taking that final step. This was occurring on a Sunday morning, so I was obliged to take him to the emergency facility, Access Specialty Animal Hospital in Culver City. The ultrasound revealed what was described to me by the tech as a “foreign body” in Rockette’s torso; “We must get that out!” I replied. So, that evening, Rockette underwent emergency surgery performed by Dr. Laurent P. Guiot who is primarily an orthopedic surgeon, but he did a terrific job. The culprit turned out to be Rockette’s gall bladder, which was removed: Dr. Lisa Mahlum drew the diagram pictured below to explain the procedure to me. Two days later Rockette was sent home with a major incision and three prescriptions. I am incredibly grateful to say that he’s getting better every day.
Rockette’s life was saved, a miracle for which I will always be grateful. He came home with a vet bill, however, that’s far beyond my capacity to handle. I am launching this fund-raiser through gofundme.com to generate the $8500.00 needed to pay for his treatment.

Before I go further, however: many of you who love Rockette prayed and sent healing vibes to him throughout his ordeal, and this is more precious than gold. Please know that should you be unable to contribute to this fund, we both thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
