My friend Rocket broke his hip in a freak accident this week and our only option is surgery. He is currently unable to walk, it's devastating. This is a big financial setback for me, the total estimate is $3400. If you have anything to spare we would greatly appreciate it! Or even sharing helps too. He is such a good boy and deserves the proper care. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. Truly
Love Rocket and Jess
What Happened:
He was lounging inside and heard a noise that spooked him so he shot up to run and it was instant. He was screaming and couldn't walk. I took him to the vet a day later and x-rays revealed that he completely fractured his femoral head. He needs what is called a Femoral Head Ostectomy where they remove the femoral head entirely. (the ball in our pelvis) Over time, scar tissue will fill the gap and he will regain full mobility after 6-8 weeks of crated recovery and physical therapy. We have a long road ahead of us.
He received compliments from the doctor's for his good attitude and outstanding bloodwork during x-rays. They reminded me how lucky I was to have him especially as a TNR. He really is the coolest cat.
..I will be looking into pet insurance.
Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
UPDATE: Oct. 22
Rocket made it all the way to pre-op yesterday and unfortunately the surgeon received a sudden family emergency and was unable to perform the operation. We rescheduled surgery for Monday (the 27th).
