Rocket Needs Your Help: Medical Care Fund
Donation protected
Meet Rocket; he needs your HELP!
Almost five years ago, I took in Rocket as a foster with Dog Gone Seattle Rescue, and as many of us in rescue know how the story goes, he quickly became a “foster fail.” From day one, Rocket has been a bright light in my life, my sunshine. He greets each day with love and joy. He’s the ultimate social butterfly, making friends wherever he goes. His best friend Angel is always by his side.
Tragically, while I was recently visiting family in Virginia, Rocket was viciously attacked by a dog that was not leashed. Following the attack, Rocket received emergency surgery, leaving him with multiple sutures and the placement of a drain (to allow fluid drainage). The surgery site became seriously infected and necrotic when his caretakers did not give him the antibiotics as prescribed; Rocket received a second procedure to debride the area, preventing sepsis.
Rocket has been left with serious injuries--a large open wound at the back of his neck--and a long road to recovery. I must regularly flush the wound, apply honey gauze dressing and bandages, give medications, so he can have another surgery to close the wound.
The owner of the dog that attacked Rocket has now refused to contribute toward the cost of his continued medical care. So, I must ask this amazing community for help with this unexpected expense.
If you can donate, no amount is too small. Every penny will go directly to Rocket’s ongoing medical treatment and rehabilitation.
My heart hurts to see my sweet boy in pain, but if there’s one thing Rocket has always been, it’s a fighter. He is in good spirits, despite everything.
Even if you can’t give financially, please help Rocket by sharing his story. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for supporting Rocket. He brings so much joy to others, and I am hopeful we can return that love to him when he needs it the most.
Love,
Marti, Rocket, and Angel
