Hi, my name is Vicky and our pup Rocket is 14 months old. A week ago Saturday the 12th, Rocket fell suddenly ill. He will offer to eat your food and his as well given the opportunity, but he lost his appetite Saturday evening. He drank what seemed to be a lot of water but didn't want anything to eat. We went to bed thinking maybe he was bored with his dinner. The next day we started to call vets
all over and went on a wait list for the Emergency Vet in Tacoma 60 miles away. We didn't get in until Tuesday and by then Rocket was fighting pneumonia. They required a $5000 deposit to begin his care. Rocket had been on IV fluids at our local vet since Monday morning. The drs believed he was developing sepsis and put him on 2 antibiotics to fight it. He'd been x-rayed and had his blood drawn several times. The doctors didn't think it's wise to operate on Rocket while he's fighting pneumonia, so that was priority at first. They hoped that the IV fluids will help what ever is causing his issue inside to move along his intestines in the meantime since he was dehydrated. Wednesday drs advised Rocket was repirating off oxygen very well and they felt he was good to go for surgery after his sonogram that morning. Rocket did not need a resection of his intestines and had no complications. Dr felt he might be more comfortable at home so he came home Thursday afternoon. This was the first time he had been away from us since we have brought him home a year ago. He'd
never spent the night away. He will need to return for x-rays to monitor his lungs and additional meds.
Rocket is a wonderful example of an Austrailian Cattle/Blue Heeler dog. He is my first of this breed and I'm so I'm love. If you met him, you'd love him too. He's is sweet and very playful and happy. He watches over his lil terrier brother Hoover and loves to lounge around the house or run around the yard or take a car ride to the park. Please, please, please help. Your help is greatly appreciated, anything you can give we are thankful for!! The total for his operation and meds was $9800. Our local vet charged us $1400 for 2 days of IV hydration and pain meds. He will also need additional medications and x-rays to check his lungs.
Payment can be made direct to Summit Veterinary Referral Center on their website. Patient Rocket Hall
