On Monday, June 19, at 4:00 PM a major thunderstorm came through the Oblong Valley in Millerton, NY. The rains came in heavy and quick. Farmers Maggie, Angela, and Kat were in the farm's office, meeting, and planning for the week. The rain started coming through the small cracks in the walls and quickly through the roof. Seconds later, the office was ripped apart by a microburst (similar to a tornado).
Later clothes and wood were found in the trees above, and one wall 40 feet from the building. The roof landed on a filling cabinet which proteced the farmers below it. Angela was able to get the roof off of Maggie, who was trapped, after getting thrown 15 ft and knocked out, and Kat scrambeled out to get more help from our amazing crew members who were in the greenhouse. Farmer D. brought the three injured to the Sharon Emergency Room where we were all treated for concussions, punctures, muscle strains, and stiched back up. We are healing thanks to the help of our community, neighbors, friends, and especially The Watershed Center, with whom we share this beautiful land.
We are so grateful to any financial support you may be able to offer. We have lost 3 computers, one printer, one car, 5 years of records, medical bills, thousands of dollars in seeds, and hundreds of labor hours at the most critical point in our production season.

Rock Steady Farm and Flowers is a woman/queer owned farm in Millerton, NY dedicated to social and ecological justice. We are growing high quality ecologically produced vegetables and professional cut flowers.
