My name is Angie Maguire, and I’m the owner of Ocean 8 Yoga, where I teach chair yoga, mobility, and movement classes for older adults and people with chronic conditions. As a certified personal trainer, Pilates instructor, and E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, I lead more than 20 chair classes each month, in addition to traditional yoga classes. I’m passionate about making movement accessible to everyone, regardless of age or ability.

Recently, I was accepted as an affiliate for Rock Steady Boxing, a world-renowned, non-contact boxing program designed specifically for people with Parkinson’s disease. With this certification, I’ll be able to offer specialized classes right here in our community—giving people with Parkinson’s access to training and support they currently do not have. Your donations will directly support my Rock Steady Boxing coach training, the first-year affiliate fee, and travel to Miami for the required two-day training. Stafford Township Recreation, where I already offer yoga and chair exercise, is supporting my idea to add more mobility-enhancing classes. Rock Steady Boxing can help improve balance, strength, coordination, mood, and overall quality of life. Like my current programs, these classes will be offered at a suggested donation so that anyone can participate.

This mission has become deeply personal for me. In recent years, a few people very close to me have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I’ve witnessed firsthand the physical and emotional challenges they face, and I’ve also seen how empowering the right kind of exercise can be. These experiences have reinforced my commitment to serving this community in a bigger and more specialized way. I’m asking for your support to help bring Rock Steady Boxing to Southern Ocean County, so together we can make a real difference in the lives of those living with Parkinson’s.
