Rocco’s Cancer Battle

Hi, my name is Lizzy and I’ve created this fundraiser to assist my good friends, Elyse and Rocco - IG: rocco.the.dobe

Rocco, a 2 year old working line Doberman, is the apple of Elyse’s eye. Since arriving home at 8 weeks old, Elyse and Rocco have trained fastidiously and built an unbreakable bond together. Elyse had grand plans to compete in PSA with Rocco - a goal that they were well on track to achieve.

In January this year, Elyse noticed Rocco couldn’t bear weight on his rear left leg. Suspecting injury, Elyse and Rocco attended numerous vet and specialist consults.

On 21st February, after many frustrating appointments and still having no definitive answers, Elyse and Rocco saw yet another specialist. Rocco underwent X-rays, CT scans and a biopsy.

On this day, Elyse finally received the heart breaking news that Rocco has cancer. The specialist told Elyse that the cancer has eaten away at Rocco’s hip joint, requiring the limb to be amputated.

Elyse is awaiting results of the biopsy to find out which type of cancer Rocco has, and whether it’s treatable. If the cancer is treatable, Elyse is facing a huge financial burden, on top of considerable existing vet and specialist costs.

This is an enormous and unexpected expense for Elyse, and while she would never ask anyone to help, I certainly will. Elyse is the kind of person who will give you the shirt off her back. She is selfless, has a huge heart and gives without expectation of receiving anything in return.
