Rocacorba Collective powering Khaltsha Cycles

The Rocacorba Collective is a membership-based women’s indoor cycling community with the mission to empower women to become the best version of themselves ... from grassroots to pro and everyone in between, through cycling and cycling eSports. 

We’ve recently partnered with Khaltsha Cycles to become our grassroots partner.

Khaltsha Cycles is a one-stop bike shop operating from shipping containers in Khayelitsha township in the City of Cape Town. The goal of Khaltsha Cycles is to create and promote the culture of cycling in townships.

Khaltsha Cycles have identified 30 girls to ride the iconic Cape Town Cycle Tour on 12 March as part of a program to empower these teenage girls through cycling, but there’s one problem – they don’t have bicycles.

To help get these girls the bikes and equipment needed to take part, the Rocacorba Collective is raising funds to fully equip the girls for the race and also the rest of the year as the program continues.

I started cycling because I wanted to get out the streets and be busy with sport, I decided to be a cyclist because I believed that as a young woman there's nothing that I can't accomplish and I wanted to motivate more young girls into sport

To me, cycling means never giving up, facing your fears and it means not getting tempted by the bad things that are happening in eKasi (in the Township). I believe cycling is not just a sport it's an opportunity of a lifetime."
