On January 25 2019 I was waiting for my sister, my bestie, to head out to our planned girls overnight(which are few and far between) when I got a call from she and her OBGYN(and personal friend) who told me that she just had a severely abnormal mammogram that suggested she likely has breast cancer. I had no idea she had concerns before this appointment. The weeks to follow would be a whirlwind while we waited for definite answers. Tests showed that due to the size of the tumors and some lymph node involvement she is at a Stage 3. Good news, if there can be good news from this, is that her cancer is estrogen and progesterone receptor positive which makes long term prognosis in her favor. Here we are 2 months later and 4 chemotherapy treatments in. My sister has lost her hair and just feels awful. She is pushing through and trying to remain strong while working and taking care of her two littles. While she is still working she is missing a lot of days because these treatments leave her absolutely debilitated. She has 12 more infusions left. We met with her surgeon last week who says she is making good progress. She is planning on a double mastectomy Im guessing in August followed by radiation treatments and reconstructive surgery. I would like to at the very least lesson her financial burden by raising money to pay her deductible, so that she can focus on her mental and physical health. Nobody ever plans on having cancer and unfortunately health insurance doesn’t cover everything. Please consider helping in any way you can, no donation is too small and lots of prayers are welcome. Our family truly appreciates you all!
