Rob Withers Founded the Wings Club in 1974 as the Park Forest Wings. 43 years later the club has evolved into a fantastic grass roots program that has developed thousands of great players and teams over the past amazing 4 decades. 
Rob passed away 3 years ago and the Rob Withers Scholarship was created to honor his legacy and the hundreds of players Rob worked with in his time. He was respected and loved by every one of his players who continue to talk about how much of an impact Coach Withers had on their lives. Rob was a great coach and a great man.
In 2015 our first scholarship went to long time Wings player who began his career in kidSoccer and came from Park Forest. Jonah Nunosheldon received $1,500 and used it to continue his education and soccer at Prairie State College. 2016 was a fantastic 4 from our long time and successful girls team who accomplished so much. Ariana Arriaga: $500 to attend St. Mary's in Notre Dame and play soccer. Paige Osika: $1,500 to attend IUPUI. Renae Melone: Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska and Adrianna Vera: $2,500 attending and playing soccer at University of Chicago.
This year we have 3 fantastic and long term players which symbolize everything Rob would be proud to call a Wings player, Jonathon Spence of Park Forest, Isabel Carrillo of Lansing, and Lorena Lopez of Chicago each will receive scholarship at our dinner on June 10th.
We rely on current player's families, alumni of the Wings Club, and friends of the club to raise funds in Rob's name to benefit these players and their desire to attend college and are hoping that you will contribute to the scholarship fund. All contributors will be on our thank you board posted at the scholarship dinner on June 10th and those who are able to contribute a bit more will receive this years Beer Stein as a special thank you.
The Rob Withers Scholarship is a non for profit organization established to help deserving young people who have dedicated a big part of their youth playing in the Wings Club. They are always great students and players.
This campaign is to help us to continue to be able to fund this amazing scholarship. The normal scholarship tournament was canceled this past December due to a snowstorm so we have to raise these important funds in other ways. The tournament is a tradition and will be scheduled again next year.
We have a very special Beer Stein that features Rob on the label. Rob was an incredible caricature artist and loved to drink beer and talk about the beautiful game. These limited edition Beer Steins symbolize each part of Rob and are hand made at a pottery in Minnesota.
Whatever donation you are able to contribute it is appreciated and you will be helping to keep Rob's name alive and assisting long term Wings players to achieve their dreams of attending college.
The beer steins are popular and with any donation of $75 or more you will receive one as a gift from the Rob Withers Scholarship. Thank you for your support and connection to the Wings!
