Update from Rob 20/6/23:
Hi Guys, we are still in Korea trying to get Dad home after his Subarachnoid Haemorrhage in Busan, South Korea. He is conscious but currently thinks he is ‘Alfie’ (the pet cat) and given the brain damage and bruising on the brain we’ve been advised to be circumspect about the amount of recovery we can expect to see. The whole operation will have cost over 300,000 dollars once the dust settles, so any donation you can make will not be forgotten and not go unthanked. Most importantly, we can’t wait to get Dad out of this draconian and inhumane hospital system (the likes of which I’ve never seen before and I’ve been in hospital in Myanmar of all places) - no nursing, next to no care or knowledge (I had to beg the doctors to prescribe IV antibiotics when I saw from X-Rays my father had aspiration pneumonia) and ridiculous treatment of family members who are expected to care for the patient 24 hours a day and not leave to eat, sleep or wash. We are paying 3,000 a day for this ghastly privilege.
Much love,
Rob
Hi there!
My name is Florencia, and I started this GoFundMe page for my friend Rob. Many may know him as the most enthusiastic and friendly Emergency Department admin, or as one of the most talented Opera singers in Australia.
Rob was having a well deserved holiday when he found out his dad had an accident while visiting South Korea, suffering a skull fracture, a brain bleed, and multiple facial fractures. Unfortunately, he did not travel with medical insurance, and the medical bills are starting to pile up. They are a working class family, and unable to cover these expenses.
The best option for him at this stage is to be brought back to Australia via a medical repatriation service, but this can go anywhere between $50K to $150K. He has tried to contact the Australian embassy for help, but unfortunately his request was denied.
Please help raise funds to help him cover this costs and bring his dad back to his home country!
Thank you so much!
