What started out to be a request for donations via COS email (mail.cos.edu), became a suggestion for a GoFundMe. I'm honored to do this for my friend and her family!
A former College of the Sequoias employee, Miranda Robinson, and her family have been tragically effected by the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA near Chico. There isn’t much left of the city they’ve resided in the last 5 years and their home & belongings are believed to be gone. They evacuated and are not able to return back for at least the next few weeks, but luckily their lives have been spared.
Miranda is a native Visalian who graduated from Redwood High School and then attended College of the Sequoias. She worked at COS for nearly 10 years in the Financial Aid office before accepting a new position at CSU Chico to further her career. Living in Paradise (about 20 minutes from Chico) was a dream come true! Prior to that she worked as a temporary employee in various offices across campus including Account Receivable, Admissions, and Academic Services. She is also the daughter-in-law of Gail Robinson, COS Retiree, who worked at COS for many years. Miranda’s husband, Sean Robinson (Gail’s son), is a graduate of the COS Nursing program’s class of 2007. He is also a Redwood High School alumni. They have 2 sons, Ethan & Elliot (born in Visalia/attended Royal Oaks & Green Acres schools). Both her in-laws and parents still reside in Visalia and she regularly visits with them and her hometown.
As Thanksgiving quickly approaches many of us have much to be thankful for. I’m asking for your help in providing this family – my friends & my colleague – with caring support in their desperate time of need. If you are able to provide even a small donation, please contact me or see me in the Sequoia Bldg., UPSTAIRS in Room 157. I have a card for her & her family and would like to be able to show them that they are cared for and have the support of the community in which they were raised to rebuild and look forward to a bountiful future!
Sincerely,
Theresa Rocha

100% of the total donation will go directly to Miranda & her family after *GoFundMe's fees.
*GoFundMe is a for-profit company. It takes 5 percent of donations raised on its platform. There is also a 2.9 percent payment-processing fee collected on each donation, along with 30 cents for every donation.
