Robinson Family- Brain Cancer

Donation protected
If you know the Robinsons’ you know they are sweet, kind and family oriented with three beautiful little boys (Edwin-10, Ollie-7 and Freddy-3).

What you may not know is that Ryan has been diagnosed with brain cancer.

Ryan had a seizure while at work on September 5th, 2024. After an MRI and cat-scan, they came to the conclusion that he had cavernoma; a cluster of abnormal blood vessels, usually found in the brain and spinal cord. His was found on the brain.

Two weeks later, he goes for surgery to have this removed. After a longer than anticipated surgery with questions starting to arise, the doctor comes out to say they found a tumour. Here, he stayed in the hospital for four days to heal. After a few days in to recover, they give the cancer diagnosis. They are hopeful that they got the entire tumour out while they were in there, but there are still uncertainties.

A few days after he gets home, he questions why he has so many follow up appointments to his wife, Nicole, wondering why he had so many. She had to be the one to tell him he has cancer. He is set up to do a chemotherapy/ radiation combo to rid the cancer.

This is 6 weeks of 5 days a week in the Kingston hospital. Just over 2 hours one way from their home. He can no longer drive and is dependent on others to bring him to appointments. Thankfully, there is a little bit of support for cancer patients who need to stay in hotels while receiving treatment. Once his initial 6 weeks are completed, next year he will receive chemo for a whole week, once a month, for the entire year. This family has a long road ahead of them.

October 15th, the doctors have gave a prognoses of high grade neuroepithielial neoplasm which is a 4-year survival of 50%. This cancer is very invasive, grows quickly and is fast spreading.

We are hoping to raise some funds to cover the costs of living and those associated with raising three young boys with him being off work for months. If you would like to donate in other ways (ie. a specific gift card, something a little special for the holidays coming up, etc.) please reach out to Emma Northey who would be happy to help get something together and deliver for you!
