Robin McCoskey (58) is an amazing woman and the mother of 2 grown kids Sarah and Josh. Mother's day weekend last year Robin started getting sick. She suffered from bouts of nausea, vomiting and intense stomach pain. After much testing she was finally diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoma in early December.
Robin's doctor wanted to get started right away with a treatment plan that called for chemotherapy once every other week for 6 months. Unfortunately, she was unable to start treatment right away because her insurance would not cover the chemotherapy. Robin's treatment was delayed until early January once she was able to enroll in an insurance plan that would cover her treatment. Because of the delay in treatment the lymphoma started drawing calcium out of her bones causing dangerously high levels of calcium in her bloodstream. To bring down her calcium levels Robin had to be hospitalized for over 3 days.
Finally at the beginning of the year, Robin was able to enroll in an insurance plan that would cover chemotherapy and so treatment could begin. Sadly that was not the end of her troubles. Complications from the very first chemotherapy treatment were soon to follow. Since then Robin has had 2 surgical procedures due to those complications. The first procedure was to implant a power port for future treatments. The second procedure was needed to remove a section of dead tissue from Robin's arm.
Because of the surgery on her arm Robin's full chemotherapy treatments have been modified so she is only receiving one of the medicines she needs while her arm heals. With all the complications Robin has only had 1 full chemotherapy treatment so far.
The surgical procedure on her arm also meant Robin needed to be off of work for about 2 weeks to heal. Unfortunately in that time her employment was terminated.
Robin is an amazing mother and the epitome of a fighter however she is in need of all the help she can get! She has many medical expenses to cover but more importantly needs help covering the day to day costs of living since she no longer has an income.
