Robin's Crazy Medical Costs!

Hi guys, it's me, Robin, and I'm asking for your help with some pretty gnarly medical and travel bills that I got after being sexually assaulted.

As a lot of you know, on Thursday, December 7th, less than 24 hours into my San Diego vacation, I was drugged, taken by a man I didn't know, to a house I didn't know, and was violently raped.

The next day I did all the right things; went to the ER, got checked over, reported it to the police, had to do a rape kit, got put on a million medications, had a ton of vaccines given, blood samples were taken, etc etc. I also made the decision to change my flights around, and fly back to the UK earlier than I had originally intended as I just didn't feel safe in San Diego after that.

As of right now I have detectives working my case, and it's all moving forward. They haven't actually found anyone yet, but they are still quite hopeful, and I'm staying positive.

All of this; the medication, the ER visit, the Doctors, the switching of flights, the loss of income, and, of course, the future therapy session's that I will be having too have, have all left me significantly in debt.

I don't have any US health insurance anymore, since I live back in the UK now, and the travel insurance that I thought I had through my credit card only works outside of the US, as it's a US based Chase card.... I know, I know, I really should have checked all of this before I left. But sadly, I didn't.

I am in the process of applying to the California Victims Compensation Board to try to get some of my costs covered, but this is a long long process, and it is by no means guaranteed that I'll get anything from them... which is why I'm asking for your help.

If you can spare anything it would mean so much. I never dreamt I'd be having to make a "go fund me" for myself... then again, I never dreamt what happened to me would be on my 42 year old bingo card either... and so it goes.
