Robin's Battle Against Cancer and Medical Bills
Donation protected
Hello, we are the family members of Robin Simone, and we genuinely appreciate you taking a moment to read our mother’s story. Our mother was blindsided by stage four lung cancer. The cancer was also found in the bones and brain.
The suggested treatment plan began immediately, which resulted in spot-treatment radiation in eleven different areas of her brain. Rounds of chemotherapy are treating the large mass on the left lobe of her lung. The bone cancer in the spine is also being treated by chemotherapy.
The combination of radiation and chemotherapy has been hard on Robin's body. Robin has frequently been admitted to the hospital, spanning anywhere between two and three weeks of hospital stays. We are fighting for quality and quantity of life.
Our mother has made a positive impact on individuals and has transformed communities. She has been a devoted volunteer in ministry and non-profit fundraising. From 2013 to 2016, Robin volunteered as the Assistant Director for the Little Elm Area Food Bank. She devoted her time to helping others in need. During the same time frame, she offered her summer days, and nights, to a non-profit organization, Dentistry from The Heart. We can’t remember a time when Robin wasn’t involved in some form of ministry work at Sonrise, Cornerstone Church, Gateway Church, or Brookhaven Church. Her weekends have always been dedicated to others.
We watched our mother willingly help family members in end-of-life circumstances by aiding them through hospice or by being their caregiver. This act of kindness is not for the faint of heart. To willingly walk through the trenches with someone during their passage from one world to the next is one of the most selfless acts anyone can do. The number of values we have learned from her is unmeasurable. “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” - Elizabeth Andrew
We made this GoFundMe to help her with medical bills. Robin has been unable to work since February 2023, and although she qualifies for short-term disability, that is only a fraction of what she needs to pay all of her obligations. We thought she was finished with radiation, but unfortunately, the results showed that the brain's masses were still there. Robin will have to do another round of radiation on the brain. Any amount you’re willing to contribute is greatly appreciated, and if you aren’t able to contribute money at this time, a share with your friends and family would mean the world to us as well.
Sincerely,
Robin's Family
