Robin's road to recovery after senseless attack

Donation protected
On August 9, 2019 My best friend (Robin Gilmore) and I were returning to my mom’s home in Haleiwa from a night out with my (at the time) boyfriend and another friend.  My friend and I arrived at the house first and he showed up about a half hour later.  Upon his arrival he went directly into the bedroom.  I went to see if he wanted to wake up and hang out with us.  He then proceeded to get up in a fit of rage and become physically violent with me, as he had done several times prior. While I was in the room being attacked, my friend heard my screams and yelling.

When she heard my scream for help, she ran into the room and saw him on top of me, choking me. She proceeded to jump on his back and attempt to pull him off of me.  He was able to flip her off his back and this is where he turned, and to my complete shock, he began to attack to my best friend. He picked her up by her hair and her leg and slammed her onto the hard floor. The impact of her hitting the ground caused her pelvis to fracture and she was in excruciating pain immediately and unable to move or protect herself (or continue to try to help me).

To muffle her screams, he then grabbed her now injured leg and dragged her across the floor into another room.  He slammed the door, leaving her on the floor injured and unable to move, and he then proceeded to attack me again.  I was able to get to Robin and began asking her if she needed an ambulance. At this point my ex boyfriend fled the house and I got up and locked all the doors.  When he was outside, he then decided to vandalize my friend's vehicle while we were waiting for an ambulance.

Since this incident, she have been out of work for three months.  Although the doctors say it could take up to a year for her injuries to heal, I know this event will affect her for the rest of her life.  She continues to struggle with the stress, anxiety, depression, and fear from the events that occurred that night when we were violently assaulted by my ex boyfriend.

At this point, she is out of work and can’t keep up with any of her normal finances.  She has medical bills and legal bills piling up.  To add insult to injury, her car was deemed totaled.  All she wanted was to get this man to stop attacking and choking me.  It wasn’t enough that he picked her up and slammed her to the floor, fracturing her pelvis, but he also had to go outside and vandalize and total her only form of transportation to and from work.

She is now in quite a predicament financially due to the violent assault that was no fault of her own.  As the criminal and civil cases play out, she is in desperate need of financial support.  Please find it in your heart to donate and help my brave friend with her medical and out of pocket finances she has experienced since the assault.  Who knows where I would be right now if it wasn't for her.
I hope when you read this, that you remember to never keep quiet when you or a loved one is being abused.
Thank you for your time and have a good day.
