Heart Transplant Survivor - Help w. Robin's Medical Expenses

If you have been following the Caring Bridge site for Robin, which was set up by her friend, Tylea, and sister in law, Karina, you know that she received a heart transplant last July and were able to follow her progress with updates that documented her journey. The surgeons who performed her transplant, Dr. Osho and Dr. D'Allesandro, saved her life. We are so grateful to them and, especially, to the heart donor for their generous gift. She has been through a lot since then with the ongoing appointments/rehab and her commitment to make a full recovery. It has been nothing less than a miracle thanks to the amazing care she has been receiving at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.

To everyone who knows her, Robin is a true friend, a genuinely thoughtful person, and just an overall beautiful human being who is always there whenever someone needs help. We have been given a blessing to keep her here with us for a long time to come. Her zest for life, love of family and her ability to spread love and compassion to everyone she meets is something this world needs more of. Remember that 4 months after her surgery she participated and led our family in the Heart Walk at Boston Common promoting Heart Health. She is a true survivor and our family is extremely proud of her for her strength, perseverance and positivity through all of this.

Her recovery has had its ups and downs; 5 readmissions, weekly appointments, additional specialists, cardiac rehab, biopsies, and other tests to ensure the heart is not rejecting. Through all of that, however, she has been moving in the right direction and hopes to be back home with her family, Josalin, Keegan and Liam, permanently, by mid-summer. She will be followed by the heart transplant team at Emory University Hospital in Decatur, GA and will travel back to Boston's MGH for future biopsies and care.

Nine months out from surgery, bills for her hospital stays, tests, medications and follow-up care are coming through and they are quite significant. Robin has been on medical leave from her job and will be until clearance is received from her medical team. She has also been away from her wife and two boys since her surgery, with Josalin and the boys traveling to Boston when possible during school breaks, which has been very difficult due to the distance. If you are able to help, we thank you for your generosity and care for Robin. This fundraiser has been set up to see if we can ease some of their financial burden through this long and difficult recovery. If you are able to help by donating any amount, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your love and support.
