Ogilvie was the best of teachers.
Many of you have been
his student, or maybe been a student while he was principle or vice principle of Mount Morgan State School.
I was lucky enough to have had him as a close family friend as well. I knew him since I was about 3 when he and June gave our family (and that includes 6 children) refuge from a flood .... that’s the type of people they are.
So many if you will remember Robin as a teacher who balanced the education of Math, English, Science and Art, with the very important Social education that is often missing.
Robin taught us about respect and responsibilities as well as rights, and the potential for life when we focus our minds and our energy on a path that inspires us.
Many of you may not know that he has always lived with June on a farm. That June and he were living on the pension and that now there is only 1 pension to cover all costs.
I wanted to fly back to be there at the funeral, but was thinking that really, the best thing I could do, was put that money into an account so that June has the money available to use it as necessary for the farm... and I’m pretty sure you all know by now that farmers are doing it tough right now....
so im giving you all the same opportunity.
If you benefitted from this man in your life like I did, you can also do something for the woman that he adored to ensure she can stay on the farm they both loved.
