Robin O’Berry Cancer Fund Drive
Hello and thank you! Thank you for being part of the loving community committed to supporting and upholding Robin and James in this difficult time.
Recently, Robin went to the doctor with what was seemingly back pain, the diagnosis was far from what we could have imagined. Robin has aggressive stage 4 small cell lung cancer that has rapidly spread to her lymph nodes, chest, abdomen, kidneys and brain. She started chemotherapy and radiation immediately at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. Robin was allowed to go home on June 5th, 2021. Her hospital stays, treatments and the need for several different medications are far from over. This fundraiser is to help Robin manage her hospitalizations, ongoing medical treatments, medications and everyday expenses. She has a long road ahead, Robin’s immune system is compromised and she has to be very careful.
If you know Robin and James O’Berry, you know how much they have been a part of the Cashiers community including coaching girl’s basketball for over 15 years, volunteering and providing food for other families in need and multiple outreach projects in association with their church.
This time, our wish for our Mom is that the kindness she has shown to so many over the years, comes back to her.
She is in very good spirits and has a medical team along with family taking excellent care of her. It’s very hard for her to put sentences together due to the lesions on her brain but she still likes to have conversations when she’s feeling up to it. We are hopeful that the chemotherapy will help to shrink the brain cancer and her speech will not be further affected. Robin was discharged from Mission Hospital and she will continue her treatment 2x weekly. She is a fighter and has a lot of love left to give.
Though the exact amount needed is difficult to assess, we’ve set a fundraising goal of $75,000. How incredible would it be to bless these two in such a way that they can focus fully on Robin’s healing and recovery, freed up of so much financial worry?! Any money that is not needed by Robin will be donated and repurposed to another individual with medical expenses.
Although Robin’s diagnosis has come as a shock, we are hopeful. We trust that God is with her as she goes through this journey. Please consider partnering with us financially to help shoulder the burden of this most difficult season.
From our family to yours: we can’t thank you enough for your love and support.
Please share and even if you cannot contribute financially, we ask that you share this amongst friends and appreciate your prayers, positive thoughts and time in reading this.
If you’re not comfortable donating online, we also have set up an account at Wells Fargo and you can take a check or money order to any WF branch in the US and indicate to the teller that you would like to deposit to the “Robin O’Berry Donation Fund”. All proceeds stay in the account without any percentage being taken out by third party fundraisers.
